Richmond Leadership. Northern Virginia Priorities.

Welcome to...

Virginia House of Delegates 48th District!

As redrawn in 2011, Virginia’s 48th Delegate District includes the area in Northern Virginia covering north Arlington, as well as much of McLean from the Arlington border to the Beltway. It also runs along the Potomac from Chain Bridge to National Airport and Crystal City.

I’m proud to have represented the 48th District’s citizens in Richmond since 1998. I hope you’ll take a few minutes to read about my background, the legislation I have championed in Richmond, and my stand on issues that matter to Northern Virginia and the Commonwealth.

I encourage you to visit my website often. Please contact me if you have any questions or if there’s an issue involving state government that I can help you resolve.

On June 30 I stepped down after 17 years as the 48th District’s Delegate in Richmond.  Governor McAuliffe has appointed me Deputy Commissioner for Aging Services at the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services.  I have been a supporter and advocate for services for the aging for many years in the General Assembly.  I look forward to this opportunity to continue work in this very important area.

I am grateful to so many people for having given me the opportunity to serve: to the volunteers and supporters who helped me in my political campaigns; to the great men and women who worked with me in my offices in Arlington and Richmond; and especially to the citizens of the 48th District who trusted me to be their voice and the champion of their values in the General Assembly.  In my new position I look forward to remaining in contact with many of you as we  foster the values so important to our community.

A Democratic caucus to choose a candidate as my successor will be held at the end of this week at the following locations:

ARLINGTON:   Sunday, July 6 – Yorktown High School, 5200 Yorktown Boulevard.  11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

MCLEAN:   Sunday, July 6 – McLean High School – Cafeteria, 1633 Davidson Road.  Noon to 6:00 PM
